The Highland CSD Board decision to close the Ainsworth attendance center means that for the 2017-2018 academic school year, all PK-5th grade students will attend Highland Elementary at the Riverside attendance center. This difficult decision was made after considering all educational and financial factors. I am sorry for the grief many are experiencing due to this decision, and I think the words from Mrs. Goodwin’s Facebook post ring true for all staff, this decision “has been weighing on my heart and mind for months. I know that whatever is decided WE will be okay. Your babies will be okay. I have worked in this district for 18 years and it is my Home. Your children are my children. We will take care of them no matter where they are in location. I am so very thankful for our dedicated board for taking such good care of us and making the tough decisions that will only make us stronger”.
The staff at Highland Elementary will work for your children. We will ensure that the transition from two elementary schools to one elementary school is as smooth as possible. Any ideas or suggestions you have to help with the transition are welcome and appreciated. Please email them to [email protected] or call Heidi Wide 319-657-3151 or Charlotte Thomann 319-648-2821 to share them. Jane O'Leary Principal Highland Elementary Schools |
